FC Zurich suffer clear defeat against FC Lausanne-Sport – 1-5
FC Zurich have lost their away game against FC Lausanne-Sport 1-5 this afternoon. Izer Aliu came on in the 58th minute, making his debut in the Super League.
Just five minutes in, Lausanne’s Benjamin Kololli finished off a fast counterattack and put the home side 1-0 in front. FC Zurich tried to show an immediate reaction to this deficit and in the 12th minute, Raphael Dwamena missed a cross into the box by Michael Frey just by a whisker.
The visitors from Zurich then took control of the action on the pitch; however, they were not able to create any clear-cut scoring opportunities. And in the 34th minute, the decisive seven minutes of the afternoon ensued during which FC Lausanne-Sport increased their lead to 4-0 thanks to goals by Gonzalo Zarate, Samuele Campo and Francesco Margiotta.
The home team’s efficiency was really remarkable as they scored four times from just five shots on goal during the first forty-five minutes.
FC Zurich again had more possession of the ball during the opening minutes of the second half, but unfortunately, they did not manage to create any dangerous opportunities in the box. Quite the contrary: On 53 minutes, it was again Benjamin Kololli who got his second goal of the afternoon and put the score to 5-0.
Four minutes later, FC Zurich scored their only goal when Adrian Winter headed home a corner to put the final score to 1-5.
FC Zurich’s next Super League game will take place on Sunday, 4 February 2018, when the team of head coach Uli Forte will be hosting FC Thun at the Letzigrund Stadium.
