FC Zurich beat FC Lugano 3-0
FC Zurich have won their home game against FC Lugano at the Letzigrund Stadium 3-0 tonight. Fabian Rohner, Alain Nef and Antonio Marchesano decided the match in the space of just 10 minutes in the first half.
The FC Zurich players put their opponents under pressure from kick-off and just 9 minutes in, Fabian Rohner opened the score 1-0 for the home side with a powerful shot following a one-two with Izer Aliu.
In the 15th minute, a corner-kick by Aliu into the middle of the box found Nef, who doubled FC Zurich’s lead to 2-0 with a forceful header into the back of the Lugano net. And just four minutes later, Marchesano unleashed a shot from the edge of the penalty area to put the score to 3-0 in favor of the home team after just 20 minutes of play.
The visitors from Lugano subsequently got into the game a bit better and appeared in front of the Zurich goal again and again; however, they were not able to convert any of their chances. The team of head coach Pierluigi Tami then also had the better start to the second forty-five minutes and managed to create several scoring opportunities, but luckily enough for the home team, their shots were either off target or FC Zurich keeper Yanick Brecher kept them out with a couple of magnificent saves, celebrating a clean sheet today.
Next Saturday evening, 17 March 2018, FC Zurich will be hosting Super League leaders Young Boys Berne at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 7pm).
