FC Zurich beat FC St Gallen 4-0
FC Zurich have won their home game against FC St. Gallen at the Stadium Letzigrund 4-0 tonight.
From kick-off and throughout the opening 15 minutes, the visitors from St Gallen put their opponents under considerable pressure and had their first scoring opportunity of the evening 13 minutes in when a header by defender Musavu-King whizzed past the post by a few inches. It was then, however, the home side that took the lead in the 20th minute when Adrian Winter fought his way through the St Gallen defense and put his side 1-0 in front. And only 10 minutes after this opener, Roberto Rodriguez doubled FC Zurich’s lead to 2-0 following a one-two with Raphael Dwamena. And when Dwamena then beat Lopar in the St Gallen goal to put the score to 3-0 in favor of FC Zurich, the outcome of tonight’s game was more or less decided.
FC Zurich also had several promising scoring opportunities during the second forty-five minutes. FC St Gallen, on the other hand, were not able to react to this three-goal deficit – quite the contrary: In the 77th minute, Antonio Marchesano converted a follow-up shot after the St Gallen keeper had saved a powerful shot by Winter and put the final score to 4-0 for FC Zurich.
Next Sunday afternoon, 22 April 2018, the team of head coach Ludovic Magnin will be facing FC Lucerne away (kick-off 4pm).
