FC Zurich beat Grasshopper Club 2:0
FC Zurich have won their home game against Grasshopper Club 2:0 tonight.
The Grasshopper Club players got off to a better start and had more ball possession during the opening minutes of the game. However, it was then FC Zurich that had the first scoring opportunity just 8 minutes in when Stephen Odey finished off a quick attack together with Khelifi, Adrian Winter and Benjamin Kololli, but his shot was aimed slightly too high and the ball flew over the crossbar of the visitors' goal.
Throughout the first half, FC Zurich had several chances to open the score and take the lead: Grasshopper Club keeper Heinz Lindner deflected a free kick by Kololli against the post (18th minute) and just five minutes later, both Pa Modou and Winter missed two consecutive chances (23rd minute). In the 39th minute, Odey’s pass found Khelifi in the box, but Lindner managed to keep out the latter’s shot.
In the 52nd minute, Khelifi finally scored the 1:0 for FC Zurich after a cross from Kololli. Throughout the remainder of the match, the home side then had several chances to decide the game – which was ultimately achieved in the 83rd minute: Pa Modou got the better of his opponent and played the ball into the middle where Odey scored the 2:0 for FC Zurich.
Next Sunday afternoon, 9 December 2018, FC Zurich will be facing FC Basel away (kick-off 4pm).
