FC Zurich beat PFC Ludogorets 1945 1:0
FC Zurich have won their home game against PFC Ludogorets 1945 thanks to a header by Victor Pálsson in the 84th minute and have celebrated their second win of the UEFA Europa League group stage.
During the opening minutes, both teams primarily focused on their defense before they began to create the first scoring opportunities: A direct free kick taken by Benjamin Kololli with 22 minutes gone was off target by just a few centimeters and the ball whizzed past the post. At the other end of the pitch, Ludogorets’ Marcelinho found himself all alone in front of the Zurich goal, but he could not control the ball as desired and the keeper managed to get his hands on the ball. In the 30th minute, a shot from long range by Marco Schönbächler was aimed too high and the ball went over the crossbar.
In the 56th minute, a header by Alain Nef flew over the goal of Ludogorets keeper Renan following a free kick by Kololli. And in the 67th minute, keeper Renan managed to keep out another free kick by Kololli from about 25 meters.
FC Zurich captain Pálsson then finally made his team, the stadium and all FC Zurich supporters erupt in cheers in the 84th minute: After a corner and a cross by Kololli, he headed the ball into the net and secured FC Zurich their second win in the second group match.
Next Sunday afternoon, 7 October 2018, FC Zurich will be facing FC Thun away (kick-off 4pm).
