FC Zurich beat FC Lucerne 5:2
FC Zurich have won their away game against FC Lucerne 5:2 this afternoon.
The visitors from Zurich took the lead already in the 5th minute of today’s game: After a one-two with Salim Khelifi, Toni Domgjoni curled the ball past the keeper to put FC Zurich 1:0 in front. FC Lucerne were not discouraged by this early blow and had their first opportunity to equalize in the 10th minute, but FC Zurich keeper Brecher was able to keep out a powerful shot by Marvin Schulz.
Blessing Eleke then equalized the score 1:1 for the home side on 22 minutes. However, FC Zurich managed to react immediately as Odey got the better of two defenders and scored the 2:1 for his team, putting FC Zurich into the lead again just five minutes after the equalizer.
It wasn’t until the 70th minute that the next goal of this game was scored – this time again for FC Zurich. Khelifi got through on the right and his cross found Kololli in the penalty area, who scored the 3:1. And only three minutes later, FC Zurich even increased their lead to three goals (4:1) thanks to Marchesano who beat the keeper with a header.
In the final minute of the game, FC Lucerne’s Ruben Vargas got another one back (2:4). But that was not the end of this match just yet as Adrian Winter put the final score to 5:2 in the 91st minute following a counterattack with Ceesay.
Next Thursday evening, 8 November 2018, FC Zurich will be facing Bayer 04 Leverkusen away in their fourth game of the UEFA Europa League group stage (kick-off 9pm).
