FC Zurich beat FC Sion 2:1
FC Zurich have won their away game against FC Sion 2:1 tonight.
Both teams each had one dangerous scoring opportunity during the first 15 minutes of the game. First, FC Zurich keeper Brecher saved a shot by Nasser Daoudou (11th minute) and just one minute later, Stephen Odey’s header following a cross by Pa Modou was off target and the ball whizzed past the left post.
Shortly after Daoudou almost opened the score for FC Sion from close range, the visitors from Zurich then took the 1:0 lead thanks to a goal scored by winger Khelifi in the 38th minute: After his one-timer had bounced off the post, the 24-year-old winger converted the rebound and scored his first-ever goal for FC Zurich to put his team in front.
FC Sion tried to react immediately to this deficit – the home side took control of the game and created several promising opportunities. And ultimately, in the 79th minute, Itaitinga managed to equalize the score 1:1 for FC Sion with a low shot. The game, however, was not finished yet: In stoppage time, when most of the spectators had already settled for a draw, Ceesay scored his first goal for FC Zurich on a counter, securing the visitors the 2:1 win and three points.
Next Sunday afternoon, 30 September 2018, FC Zurich will be hosting newly promoted Neuchâtel Xamax FCS at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 4pm).
