FC Zurich beat FC Thun 1-0
FC Zurich have won their away game against FC Thun 1-0 tonight.
Kevin Rüegg had the very first opportunity of the game just a few minutes after kick-off, but his volley was off target by quite a margin. And 27 minutes in, Adrian Winter had another good chance to put his team in front, but his shot was saved by FC Thun keeper Guillaume Faivre.
The home side from Thun had two dangerous opportunities by Marvin Spielmann during the first half – his first shot was deflected around the post by Victor Pálsson in the 35th minute. And only five minutes later, a header by Spielmann just whizzed over the FC Zurich crossbar.
After the break, FC Zurich managed to convert their first opportunity of the second half: Following a remarkable attack, Toni Domgjoni flicked the ball on with his head to Frey, who pushed the ball over the line, putting FC Zurich 1-0 in front.
FC Thun had their best chance to equalize the score on 58 minutes when a powerful shot by Dennis Hediger was deflected by keeper Yanick Brecher and bounced off the corner of the goal. This was just one of several magnificent saves by the Zurich keeper, thanks to which FC Zurich won tonight’s game 1-0 and grabbed three important points.
Next Sunday afternoon, 13 May 2018, FC Zurich will be hosting FC Basel at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 4pm).
