Unfortunately, though, his shot was just off target. The Zurich striker did better 11 minutes into the match: His shot from long range and into the bottom left corner found the back of the net, putting the visitors from Zurich 1-0 in front.
After a foul on Sanogo in the 67th minute, referee Jacottet showed Sangoné Sarr his second yellow card of the afternoon and sent him off. Nevertheless, Antonio Marchesano then doubled FC Zurich’s advantage to 2-0 just eight minutes later following a magnificent dribbling past the Young Boys defense.
Although the team of head coach Adi Hütter then increased the pace and got one back on 80 minutes thanks to a header by Sulejmani, the FC Zurich players did not make any more mistakes until the final whistle and won the cup final thanks to a compact team performance. It’s the club’s 10th Swiss Cup victory in its history. This means that FC Zurich are directly qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Europa League!
