FC Zurich draw FC Sion 1-1
The Super League game between FC Zurich and FC Sion at the Stade de Tourbillon has ended in a 1-1 draw tonight.
Already during the opening minutes of tonight’s game, FC Sion managed to create their first opportunities of the match through Pajtim Kasami (shot from long range that was just wide and a header over the crossbar), Adryan and Carlitos.
A little against the run of play, FC Zurich then opened the score on 20 minutes: Domgjoni received the ball on the left edge of the penalty area, he didn’t hesitate long and his shot found its way into the back of the net behind Kevin Fickentscher – the Sion goalkeeper didn’t stand a chance to keep out this shot into the corner of the net. It was the 19-year-old’s first Super League goal. But unfortunately, FC Zurich’s advantage did not last long as just five minutes later and following a cross into the box, Adryan pushed the ball over the goal line to put his side 1-1 level.
Shortly after the half-time break, Kasami just missed the goal with a one-timer (50th minute). FC Zurich organized their defense well; however, they had trouble creating many scoring opportunities. One of them came in the 63rd minute, when Sion keeper Fickentscher saved a shot from an acute angle by Michael Frey. FC Sion, on the other hand, had their best opportunity to score the winning goal in the 79th minute, when Marco Schneuwly’s header bounced off the post.
Next Saturday evening, 7 April 2018, FC Zurich will be hosting local rivals Grasshopper Club at home at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 7pm).
