FC Zurich suffer 0-4 defeat against Young Boys Berne
FC Zurich have lost their away game against reigning Swiss champions Young Boys Berne 0-4 this afternoon.
The visitors from Zurich tried to put their opponents under pressure from kick-off and had their first promising opportunity of the afternoon just eight minutes in, but Toni Domgjoni’s shot from about 16 meters was off target.
Young Boys Berne then got into the game a bit better and had several dangerous scoring chances – one of which they converted on 13 minutes when Miralem Sulejmani opened the score in favor of the home team thanks to a slightly deflected shot. And less than two minutes later, Christian Fassnacht even doubled the Young Boys’ lead to 2:0 with a powerful shot.
The visitors from Zurich appeared a little shocked after conceding two goals within just a few moments, but they had the opportunity to get one back in the 20th minute: Adrian Winter got away from the Young Boys defense and dashed off towards keeper Von Ballmoos, but unfortunately, his shot was deflected off target by Kevin Mbabu at the very last moment. The game was then virtually decided just before the half-time whistle when Hoarau headed the ball into the Zurich net to put the score to 3:0 for Young Boys Berne.
The home team was in control of the action on the pitch throughout the second half and neither of the two teams had many clear-cut opportunities until Jean-Pierre Nsame put the final score to 4:0 in the 75th minute.
Next Sunday afternoon, 12 August 2018, FC Zurich will be hosting FC St Gallen at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 4pm).
