FC Zurich suffer 1-2 defeat against Young Boys Berne
FC Zurich have lost their home game against Young Boys Berne 1-2 tonight.
The beginning of the first half started as an even match and both teams had several promising scoring opportunities. But approximately fifteen minutes in, FC Zurich began to take control of the action on the pitch: In the 34th minute, a shot by Roberto Rodriguez was just off target and whizzed past the post, and only six minutes later, Young Boys Berne keeper Wölfli managed to save a free-kick by Antonio Marchesano from about 20 meters.
In the 60th minute, however, it was then Young Boys top scorer Assalé who finished off an attack with Miralem Sulejmani and Hoarau to put the visitors 1-0 in front. The home side did not show any signs of giving up though and were able to equalize the score just four minutes later: After keeper Wölfli had fouled Zurich striker Dwamena in the box, Rodriguez converted the spot-kick to level the game at 1-1.
However, directly after this equalizer for the home team, referee Fedayi San also accorded a penalty to Young Boys Berne after Assalé was fouled in the Zurich box and Hoarau put the visitors in the lead again. FC Zurich kept on pushing to level the game once again and had several opportunities to do so. In the 85th minute, another spot-kick by Hoarau bounced off the post and ultimately, the score remained at 1-2 until the final whistle.
On Saturday, 31 March 2018, FC Zurich will be facing FC Sion away (kick-off 7pm).
