FC Zurich draw Neuchâtel Xamax FCS 3:3
This afternoon’s Super League game between FC Zurich and Neuchâtel Xamax FCS has ended in a 3:3 draw.
The visitors from Zurich had two promising scoring opportunities already during the opening minutes of the game thanks to Stephen Odey and Benjamin Kololli. However, in the 21st minute, it was then the home side from Neuchâtel that took the 1:0 lead when Max Veloso surprised FC Zurich keeper Yanick Brecher with a shot from long range.
In the 57th minute, the home team even doubled their advantage to 2:0 as Max Veloso scored his second goal of the afternoon. Fortunately, FC Zurich were able to react immediately: Dixon, who made his Super League debut today, got through on the right and sent a cross into the penalty area, where Antonio Marchesano passed the ball to Kryeziu who scored the 1:2 with a powerful shot long- range shot (61st minute).
After a shot from Neuchâtel Xamax FCS’s Karlen had bounced off the crossbar of the Zurich goal, Kryeziu got his second goal of the match to equalize the score at 2:2 (63rd minute). However, only three minutes later, Neuchâtel Xamax FCS took the lead again when Charles-André Doudin headed the ball home to put the score to 3:2. It didn’t take the visitors long to react to this deficit, though: After a foul on Dixon in the penalty area, Kololli converted the penalty given by the referee in the 76 th minute, equalizing the score at 3:3.
Although both teams then still had several opportunities to score the game-winning goal, the result remained unchanged until the final whistle.
Next Thursday evening, 29 November 2018, FC Zurich will be hosting Cyprian side AEK Larnaca FC at the Letzigrund Stadium in their fifth UEFA Europa League group game (kick-off 6.55pm).
