FC Zurich draw FC Thun 2:2 away
This afternoon’s game between FC Zurich and FC Thun has ended in a 2:2 draw.
Assan Ceesay had the first promising scoring opportunity for the visitors from Zurich in the 13th minute – the striker asserted himself against the defenders in the box but then narrowly missed the Thun goal. Five minutes later, Kololli tried his luck with a shot from 16 meters, but FC Thun keeper Guillaume Faivre saved the ball without any problems (18th minute).
FC Zurich continued to control the game and took the lead with their very next chance: Kololli got the better of the home side’s defenders and beat the keeper with a shot from a narrow angle to put FC Zurich 1:0 in front (29th minute). Moments later, FC Thun had their best chance of the first half when Umaru Bangura deflected the ball against his own post following a free kick, but luckily enough, Victor Pálsson cleared the ball off the line (32nd minute). FC Zurich almost doubled their lead to 2:0 when Ceesay found himself all alone in front of the Thun goal; however, his shot was off target. Kololli did better in the 57th minute and scored the 2:0 for FC Zurich after a nice combination play with Odey.
The home team, however, did not give up yet and got one back just two minutes after the second Zurich goal by Dennis Salanovic to make the score 2:1 (59th minute). And shortly afterwards, Dejan Sorgic even tied the game at 2:2 (62nd minute). Although both teams still had several opportunities to win the game, the score remained 2:2 until the final whistle.
On Saturday, 20 October 2018, FC Zurich will be hosting reigning champions Young Boys Berne at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 7pm).
