FC Zurich draw FC Lucerne 0:0
This afternoon’s away game between FC Zurich and FC Lucerne has ended in a 0:0 draw.
The visitors from Zurich had their first scoring opportunity in the 13th minute when following a cross from Benjamin Kololli, Assan Ceesay narrowly missed a pass from Mimoun Mahi in the penalty area.
The home team then had several opportunities to open the score through Pascal Schürpf (volley shot in the 18th minute), Lazar Cirkovic (header in the 21st minute), Idriz Voca (shot just past the post in the 35th minute) and Lucas Alves (header in the 42nd minute); however, they did not manage to convert any of them.
In the 54th minute, FC Zurich had the first chance of the second half, but a powerful shot by Marco Schönbächler from about 25 meters was off target and the ball bounced off the crossbar. And the visitors even had a few more opportunities: a shot from long range by Umaru Bangura went over the goal of FC Lucerne keeper Marius Müller (60th minute) and in the 66th minute, the Lucerne keeper denied Levan Kharabadze’s shot from an acute angle.
Since neither team managed to score until the final whistle, the game ended in a goalless 0:0 draw. Next Saturday evening, 3 August 2019, FC Zurich will be facing FC Sion away (kick-off 7pm).
