FC Zurich beat FC Lucerne 3-0
FC Zurich have won their home game against FC Lucerne 3-0 tonight, celebrating their fourth consecutive championship win.
FC Zurich took control of the action on the pitch from kick-off and put their opponents from Lucerne under considerable pressure already in their own half. And in the 13th minute, the home team took the lead when Kramer converted a delivery from Rüegg to put his side 1-0 in front. Following this opener, FC Zurich remained the more active team and had several more promising chances through Schönbächler (18th minute), Nathan (23rd minute) and Rüegg (39th minute).
Still before the half-time break, Lucerne's Eleke was sent off after he had fouled Becir Omeragic. As a result, FC Zurich took advantage of their numerical superiority on the pitch and had several good scoring opportunities during the opening minutes of the second half. The most dangerous of them was created by their opponents though, as a shot by Lucerne’s Males hit the crossbar in the 53rd minute).
After this wake-up call, FC Zurich again showed more determination and doubled their lead in the 59th minute when Schönbächler scored the 2-0 following a clever long through ball from Simon Sohm. And after Schönbächler had narrowly missed the third goal for FC Zürich with a curled shot on 61 minutes, Kramer got his second goal of the evening to put the final score to 3-0 for FC Zurich (68th minute); Pa Modou had provided the assist.
Next Saturday evening, 30 November 2019, FC Zurich will be facing Neuchâtel Xamax FCS away (kick-off 7pm).
