FC Zurich beat FC St Gallen 2:1
FC Zurich have won their home game against FC St Gallen 2:1 tonight.
During the first half of tonight’s clash with FC St Gallen, FC Zurich had several good chances to score the opening goal: In the 14th minute, Ceesay’s delivery found Mahi but unfortunately, his shot from a narrow angle whizzed past the post. In the 20th minute, a shot on the turn by Marchesano was aimed too high and the ball flew over the crossbar, and a few moments later, FC St Gallen keeper Dejan Stojanovic was able to save a header again by Marchesano.
Shortly before the half-time break, FC Zurich then took the lead thanks to Marchesano who converted a magnificent pass by Mahi to put his side 1:0 in front. But only three minutes later, the visitors got the 1:1 equalizer from a free-kick by Quintillà. After St Gallen's Miro Muheim (56th minute) as well as FC Zurich’s Mirlind Kryeziu (59th minute) got sent off with their second yellow card of the evening, both teams had several chances to score again and take the lead. In the 70th minute, Mahi then finally scored the 2:1 for the home team following a nice combination play with Domgjoni, thanks to which FC Zurich got to celebrate their first victory of the season.
