FC Zurich beat Neuchâtel Xamax FCS 2-1
FC Zurich have won their home game against Neuchâtel Xamax FCS 2-1 this afternoon.
Neither of the two teams was able to create any clear-cut scoring opportunities during the opening minutes of this afternoon’s game. In the 22nd minute, a free-kick by Xamax player Raphaël Nuzzolo narrowly missed the Zurich goal. The home team then had their first promising opportunity after 37 minutes when Stephen Odey was unfortunately not able to deflect a cross from Toni Domgjoni as he had hoped.
After the half-time break, it was however Neuchâtel Xamax FCS that scored the first goal of the afternoon when Pietro Di Nardo converted a cross from Nuzzolo to give the visitors a 1-0 lead (55th minute).
FC Zurich were able to react to this deficit and ultimately equalized the score in the 73rd minute thanks to a goal by Kololli. And just three minutes later, Odey scored the 2-1 winner for FC Zurich following a pass by Mirlind Kryeziu. In injury time, Assan Ceesay then even almost scored the third goal for the home team, but his shot was deflected off target and the score remained 2-1 in favor of FC Zurich until the final whistle.
On Saturday, 30 March 2019, FC Zurich will be facing FC Sion away (kick-off 7pm).
