FC Zurich suffer 0-4 defeat against Young Boys Berne
FC Zurich have lost their home game against Young Boys Berne 0-4 this afternoon.
FC Zurich had several excellent scoring opportunities during the opening minutes of today’s match, namely by Nathan with a volley following a cross by Mahi (8th minute) and Marco Schönbächler whose shot crashed against the crossbar (9th minute).
In the 22nd minute, the visitors from Bern took the 1-0 lead thanks to a goal scored by Fassnacht. FC Zurich were able to react to this deficit, but Young Boys keeper David von Ballmoos managed to keep out both a powerful shot by Antonio Marchesano (27th minute) and a header by Schönbächler (29th minute).
In the 45th minute, Assar Ceesay scored what everyone thought was the equalizer; however, VAR intervened and canceled his goal due to a narrow offside position.
The visitors from Berne were then very efficient throughout the second half: Aebischer doubled his side’s lead to 2-0 in the 65th minute and ten minutes later, Fassnacht scored his second goal of the afternoon (76th minute). And finally, in added time, Nsame took advantage of a counterattack to put the final score to 4-0 for Young Boys Berne (93rd minute).
On Sunday, 20 October 2019, FC Zurich will be facing FC Lugano away (kick-off 4pm).
