FC Zurich suffer 0-1 defeat against Young Boys Berne
FC Zurich have narrowly lost their home game 0-1 against Young Boys Berne this afternoon.
After both teams had failed to make use of some promising scoring opportunities during the first half-hour, the visitors from Berne almost scored the 1-0 in the 32nd minute: Roger Assalé appeared all alone in front of Yanick Brecher and dribbled around the Zurich keeper, but luckily enough, defender Andreas Maxsø was able to clear the Young Boys striker’s shot just before the goal line.
Still before the half-time break, FC Zurich had another excellent opportunity; however, Toni Domgjoni's header following a Kharabadze delivery was aimed a little too high and the ball flew a few inches over the crossbar.
FC Zurich had the first chance of the second forty-five minutes when Domgjoni played the ball to Assan Ceesay, who didn’t manage to get control of the ball as he had desired, though (50th minute). About ten minutes before the end of regular time, Ceesay went down in the Young Boys penalty area, but the whistle of referee Lukas Fähndrich remained silent. With their very next attack on the Zurich goal, Nsame then scored the 1-0 for the visitors (79th minute). Unfortunately, FC Zurich were unable to react to this deficit and the score remained 0-1 until the final whistle.
Next Friday evening, 19 April 2019, FC Zurich will be facing FC Lugano away (kick-off 8pm).
