FC Zurich suffer 0-2 defeat against Young Boys Berne
FC Zurich have lost their away game against Young Boys Berne 0-2 this afternoon.
Both the visitors from Zurich as well as Young Boys Berne had several scoring opportunities during the opening minutes of today’s game: Just four minutes in, a shot from Ngamaleu narrowly missed the goal, as the ball whizzed past the left post. And in the seventh and ninth minute, Antonio Marchesano missed two opportunities to score the opening goal for FC Zurich. Fifteen minutes later, Zurich keeper Brecher managed to deflect a header by Jean-Pierre Nsamé against the post. And just one minute later, Young Boys keeper David von Ballmoos saved a header by Marchesano.
After the half-time break, the home team increased their pressure on the visitors’ goal and took the 1-0 lead in the 48th minute following a corner and subsequent header by Fassnacht. FC Zurich had a chance to equalize the score through Assan Ceesay only three minutes later, but instead, Young Boys Berne’s Ngamaleu doubled his side’s advantage to 2-0 shortly thereafter. Both teams had several chances, but the score remained unchanged 2-0 in favor of Young Boys Berne until the final whistle.
Next Thursday evening, 21 February 2019, FC Zurich will be facing SSC Naples in their Europa League round of 32 second-leg game (kick-off 6.55pm).
