FC Zurich suffer 0-1 defeat against FC Sion
FC Zurich have lost their away game against FC Sion at the Tourbillon Stadium 0-1 tonight.
After just six minutes of tonight’s game, FC Sion took the lead when Grgic took advantage of a rebound in the Zurich area and slotted the ball home to put the home side 1-0 in front. The game then became a rather evenly balanced affair with both teams having their share of opportunities. The visitors from Zurich had their first promising chance to score the equalizer in the 23rd minute, but Sion goalkeeper Kevin Fickentscher saved Grégory Sertic’s effort from long range. Just before the half-time break, FC Zurich were lucky though, when Untersee deflected a cross over his goalie Yanick Brecher and the ball bounced off the crossbar (45th minute).
In the 65th minute, FC Zurich then had their best chance of the evening. However, following a corner by Sertic, Joel Untersee unfortunately failed to get his foot on the ball as desired to deflect it towards goal. FC Sion tried to score their second goal on the break and had several chances to do so by Quentin Maceiras (72nd minute) and Ermir Lenjani (73rd minute); nevertheless, the score remained 1-0 in favor of the home team until the final whistle.
Next Wednesday evening, 3 April 2019, FC Zurich will be hosting FC Basel at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 8pm).
