FC Zurich draw FC Thun 2-2
This afternoon’s away game between FC Zurich and FC Thun has ended in a 2-2 draw.
FC Thun had the first opportunity of the afternoon during an evenly balanced opening of the game. The visitors from Zurich also had two promising scoring chances in the 13th and 14th minutes through Stephen Odey, but Thun keeper Guillaume Faivre was able to keep out the Nigerian striker’s header and shot.
Shortly before the half-time break, Basil Stillhart made use of a rebound and put the home team 1-0 in the lead (38th minute). Three minutes later, FC Zurich then got the equalizer when Kololli, after a pass by Dixon, scored the 1-1 into the near corner of the net. But just one minute later, it was then again FC Thun that took the 2-1 lead as Stillhart got his second goal of the afternoon to put the home side back in front.
Both teams had several scoring opportunities during the second half. However, only in the closing minutes of today’s game did FC Zurich finally manage to equalize the score again: Following a cross by Ceesay, the ball caught the arm of FC Thun captain Stefan Glarner in the box and referee Alain Bieri awarded the visitors from Zurich a penalty. Kololli stepped up and converted the spot-kick without any problems, putting the final score to 2-2.
Next Sunday afternoon, 17 March 2019, FC Zurich will be hosting Neuchâtel Xamax FCS at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 4pm).
