Blerim Dzemaili returns to FC Zurich
69-time Swiss international, World Cup and European Championship participant and former FC Zurich captain Blerim Dzemaili is returning to the club after thirteen and a half years and signs a contract until 2022.
Dzemaili, who completed most of his footballing education at FC Zurich, joined the club’s first-team squad in 2003. After 135 competitive games, 14 goals, ten assists, two championship titles (2006 and 2007) and a cup win (2005) with FC Zurich, he transferred to Premier League side Bolton Wanderers at the age of 21. Subsequently, the 34-year-old played a total of 280 games in the Italian Serie A with FC Torino, Parma Calcio, SSC Napoli, CFC Genoa and FC Bologna. With Napoli, Dzemaili won the Italian cup twice. In addition, he was also champion and cup winner in Turkey with Galatasaray and was engaged with Montreal Impact in Canada. Most recently, the central midfielder was under contract with Chinese club Shenzhen FC.
