FC Zurich suffer 0-2 defeat against FC Sion
FC Zurich have lost their home game against FC Sion 0-2 tonight.
The home team from Zurich had their first scoring opportunity already in the first minute, but Henri Koide’s shot following a Michael Kempter pass was off target. And only one minute later, FC Sion goalkeeper Kevin Fickentscher was able to keep out a shot by Benjamin Kololli (2nd minute).
In the 34th minute, however, it was the visitors’ turn to open the score as FC Sion took the 1-0 lead thanks to a header by Uldrikis. FC Zurich were able to react to this deficit and had a very promising opportunity to equalize still in the first half, but a shot by Toni Domgjoni was slightly off target and the ball bounced off the crossbar (45th minute).
During the second half, the home side kept on pushing for the equalizer and missed several good chances to go level and grab at least one point tonight. Instead, FC Sion scored their second goal of the evening just moments before the final whistle, putting the final score to 0-2.
Next Friday evening, 31 July 2020, FC Zurich will be facing FC Lucerne away (kick-off 8.30pm).
