FC Zurich suffer 1:2 defeat against FC Lucerne
FC Zurich have lost their away game against FC Lucerne 1:2 tonight.
During the first 15 minutes of tonight’s game, the home team from Lucerne had two dangerous scoring opportunities through Pascal Schürpf (12th minute) and Idriz Voca (15th minute); however, neither of them was able to find the back of the net to open the score.
However, in the 21st minute, FC Lucerne then took the 1:0 lead when Zurich defender Nathan unfortunately deflected a cross by Schürpf into his own goal to put the home team in front. About ten minutes later, FC Zurich equalized the score 1:1 through Kramer; Marchesano had provided the assist (32nd minute).
Throughout the second half, FC Lucerne had several promising opportunities to score another goal and take the lead again – which came to pass in the 79th minute, when Lang scored the 2:1 for the home side with a curled shot into the top corner of the goal from around 18 meters.
Since FC Zurich were not able to react to this deficit until the final whistle, FC Lucerne got to celebrate a 2:1 victory and grabbed all three points.
Next Monday evening, 3 August 2020, FC Zurich will be hosting FC Thun for the final championship game of the 2019/2020 season at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 8.30pm).
