FC Zurich suffer 1-4 defeat against Servette FC
FC Zurich have lost their away game against Servette FC 1-4 this afternoon.
During the opening minutes of today’s game, the home side had the first promising scoring opportunities by Varol Tasar (7th minute) and Vincent Sasso (13th minute). The visitors from Zurich then got into the game a little better and also had a good chance through Mimoun Mahi, but Servette keeper Jérémy Frick was able to keep out the Zurich striker’s shot.
Just a few minutes later, Servette then took the lead when Kyei scored the 1-0 in the 23rd minute; Miroslav Stevanovic had provided the assist. And towards the end of the first half, the team from Geneva had a couple more good opportunities to even extend their lead.
After the half-time break and some chances for FC Zurich, most notably by Marchesano (his shot from an acute angle was blocked by Frick (57th minute)) and Pa Modou (his shot following a corner was cleared off the line (63rd minute)), Tosin finally equalized the score 1-1 for the visitors in the 64th minute.
But unfortunately, this score did not last long as Servette’s Kone then scored three goals for his side to put the final result to 1-4 for the team from Geneva.
Next Saturday evening, 22 February 2020, FC Zurich will be hosting Neuchâtel Xamax FCS at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 7pm).
