FC Zurich suffer 2:3 defeat against FC Thun
FC Zurich have lost their away game against FC Thun 2:3 tonight.
Thanks to three goals within just ten minutes, FC Thun managed to steer the game in the desired direction: First, Rapp scored the 1:0 in the 11th minute; three minutes later, Tosetti volleyed the ball into the net to double his side’s advantage to 2:0 (14th minute) and in the 21st minute, Karlen scored the 3:0 with a curled shot; FC Zurich goalkeeper Yanick Brecher didn’t stand a chance.
The visitors from Zurich were able to react to this deficit as Mirlind Kryeziu found the back of the Thun net with a header to get one back (1:3) following a corner from Kololli in the 31st minute.
And even before the half-time break, FC Zurich further reduced their deficit to 2:3: After Basil Stillhart had fouled Nathan in the box, Kololli converted the awarded spot-kick without any problems. Stillhart was sent off with his second yellow card within just three minutes.
Throughout the second half, the FC Zurich players then tried to make use of their numerical advantage. However, despite several very promising scoring opportunities, the visitors’ attempts weren’t crowned with success until the final whistle, and they suffered a 2:3 defeat.
Next Saturday evening, 4 July 2020, FC Zurich will be hosting Servette FC at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 8.30pm).
