FC Zurich suffer 1-2 defeat against Young Boys Berne
FC Zurich have lost their first match of the 2020/2021 championship 1-2 against Young Boys Berne.
The visitors from Zurich took the early lead in the fifth minute of the game already as Assan Ceesay got the better of several opponents and passed the ball to Kololli, who opened the score 1-0 for FC Zurich with a volley. Young Boys were able to react immediately to this deficit and then had some promising scoring opportunities through Ulisses Garcia and Jean-Pierre Nsame.
After Fassnacht's header had hit the crossbar in the 15th minute, Mambimbi ultimately equalized the score 1-1 in the 24th minute.
After ten minutes in the second half, Hekuran Kryeziu was sent off with his second yellow card of the evening. The Young Boys took advantage of their numerical superiority, and Fassnacht put his side in the lead 2-1 following a cross from Garcia (69th minute).
FC Zurich tried to find a way back into the game but unfortunately, they were not able to score another goal until the final whistle; consequently, tonight’s game ended in a 1-2 defeat for the visitors.
Next Saturday evening, 26 September 2020, FC Zurich will be hosting FC Lugano at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 7pm).
