FC Zurich suffer 2:3 defeat against FC Lucerne
FC Zurich have lost their home game against FC Lucerne 2:3 tonight. Just five minutes in, FC Zurich took the lead when Marco Schönbächler opened the score to put the home side 1:0 in front; Mirlind Kryeziu had provided the assist.
However, the visitors then scored three goals within just 14 minutes: Idriz Voca equalized the score with a shot from long range (1:1 in the 13th minute), then Ryder Matos pushed the ball over the line to make it 2:1 for Lucerne (24th minute), and another three minutes later, Margiotta even scored the third goal for the visitors (3:1 on 27 minutes).
Throughout the second half, FC Zurich had several good scoring opportunities, among them a shot by Schönbächler (54th minute) and two headers by Mirlind Kryeziu in the 59th and 60th minute. And in the 56th minute, FC Zurich goalkeeper Yanick Brecher got his fingertips on the ball to deflect a Voca shot over the crossbar. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t to be tonight, even though Kramer got one back in the 78th minute to put the final score to 2:3 in favor of the visitors.
Next Sunday afternoon, 2 February 2020, FC Zurich will be facing FC Sion away (kick-off 4pm).
