FC Zurich draw Neuchâtel Xamax FCS 1:1
Tonight’s away game between FC Zurich and Neuchâtel Xamax FCS has ended in a 1:1 draw.
After just four minutes, the home team had the first scoring opportunity of the evening, but Samir Ramizi’s shot was wide and missed the Zurich goal. In the 16th minute, Benjamin Kololli then had the first chance for FC Zurich; however, his shot was also off target and the ball flew over the crossbar.
Following a quick counterattack, Xamax then took the lead in the 23rd minute when Nuzzolo found the back of the net to score the 1:0. But just four minutes later, the visitors from Zurich were able to react to this deficit as Nathan headed the ball home to equalize the score at 1:1 after a Kololli corner kick (27th minute).
Throughout the second half, FC Zurich had several more opportunities to score the winner through Blaž Kramer (47th minute), Winter (66th minute) and Domgjoni ten minutes later. And when Koide fended off his opponent and was brought down in the box in the 82nd minute, referee Alessandro Dudic’s whistle stayed silent and no penalty was awarded. Consequently, the score remained unchanged until the final whistle and the game ended in a 1:1 draw.
Next Saturday evening, 11 July 2020, FC Zurich will be hosting FC Sion at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 6.15pm).
