Massimo Rizzo remains FC Zurich head coach

FC Zurich is pleased to announce that the collaboration with Massimo Rizzo as head coach of the first team will be continued. The 46-year-old has signed a contract until summer 2022.

Massimo Rizzo started his football career in 1982 as a junior at FC Zurich. Further clubs were FC Wettingen, FC Baden, YF Juventus, FC Wil 1900 and FC Schaffhausen. With FC Wil 1900, Rizzo won the Swiss Cup in 2004.

During the 2005/2006 season, he returned to FC Zurich as assistant coach of the U21s before being appointed team manager for the first and second teams in January 2013. Half a year later, Rizzo was named assistant coach of the first team, ultimately being in charge of this team on an interim basis for six games in August 2015.

Massimo Rizzo, who obtained his UEFA Pro license this autumn, has been the interim coach of the first team since 5 October 2020. So far, Rizzo got to celebrate five wins and three draws in eleven games.
