André Breitenreiter appointed new FC Zurich head coach
FC Zurich is pleased to announce that André Breitenreiter has been appointed as its new head coach. The 47-year-old German has signed a two-year contract until the summer of 2023.
Breitenreiter played 245 games for Hannover 96, Hamburger SV, VfL Wolfsburg and SpVgg Unterhaching. He also played a total of 37 games for the various German U national teams (U16 - U21).
After Breitenreiter terminated his career as a player in the summer of 2010, he took up his first coaching position at TSV Havelse in the Regionalliga Nord at the beginning of 2011. Other clubs were SC Paderborn 07, with which he got promoted to the Bundesliga, FC Schalke 04, with whom he qualified for the Europa League, and most recently Hannover 96, with which he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2017 and for which he worked until January 2019.
