FC Zurich sign offensive player Akaki Gogia
29-year-old offensive player Akaki "Andy" Gogia joins FC Zurich with immediate effect; he has signed a two-year contract until the summer of 2023.
Born in Georgia, Gogia moved to Germany in 2001, where he completed his football training with the academies of FSV 67 Halle, Hannover 96 and VfL Wolfsburg and joined the VfL second team in 2009. After being loaned to FC Augsburg in the first and FC St. Pauli in the second Bundesliga, Akaki Gogia, who competed in seven matches with the German youth national teams, joined Halleschen FC for the 2013/2014 season. Other of his clubs were the English Championship side FC Brentford and Dynamo Dresden. The offensive all-rounder has been under contract with 1. FC Union Berlin since the summer of 2017, for whom he scored eight goals and played 12 assists in 64 official matches.
