Assan Ceesay leaves FC Zurich
28-year-old striker Assan Ceesay has decided not to renew his expiring contract with FC Zurich after four years and to join US Lecce, newly promoted to Serie A.
Ceesay started his football career in his home country Gambia with Gamtel FC before moving to Senegal to join Casa Sports. In 2016, he moved to Switzerland and joined FC Lugano. The 25-time Gambian international then spent a season on loan at Challenge league club Chiasso. In August 2018, Assan Ceesay joined FC Zurich, but was then loaned to VfL Osnabrück in the second German Bundesliga for half a season at the beginning of 2020. Ceesay played a total of 111 official matches for FC Zurich, scoring 31 goals and playing 16 assists, of which 20 goals and eleven assists in the 2021/2022 season.
FC Zurich would like to thank Assan for his commitment and wishes him all the best for his personal and professional future.
