Danone Nations Cup World Finals: Former LetziKids U12 Players Finish in 3rd Place!

FC Zurich's U13 team has qualified for the Danone Nations Cup Round of 16 in Warsaw. 13 players on this team were born in 2000 and used to play for the LetziKids U12 team until June 2012. The team finished their group in second place behind Spain and beat China with a score of 3:1 in the first knock-out game. In the quarter final, the young FC Zurich players eliminated the team from the Czech Republic with the exact same result (3:1).

The semi-final against South Korea saw a very close and exciting game – after the final whistle and a goalless draw after extra time, penalties had to decide who would make it to the final. Unfortunately, FC Zurich’s youngsters lost on penalties. Therefore, they're now playing against the team from Argentina in the game for third place in Poland's National Stadium in Warsaw later today. The stadium is sold out and 58,000 spectators will be following the action on the pitch. The two teams from Japan and South Korea have made it to the final and will compete for the tournament win.

In the game for third place, FC Zurich's U13 team beat Argentina with a score of 3:2 after penalties. South Korea beat Japan in the final and won the Danone Nations Cup!

We congratulate our U13 team warmly on their great performance and their outstanding result at the Danone Nations Cup World Finals 2012 in Warsaw / Poland!
